1 / GILDED INSTINCTS - CONCEPTUAL SERIES
Wild animals adorned with jewels appear precious, almost revered, yet something feels deeply wrong.
Gilded Instincts explores the contradiction between admiration and domination, exposing how beauty, rarity and luxury often become tools of control.
2 / CONCEPT
This project addresses human abuse of animals, particularly exotic species that are captured, traded or displayed as symbols of status. By covering these animals in jewels, I wanted to expose how value is imposed rather than respected, how nature is aestheticized, possessed, and transformed into ornament.
The jewels function as a metaphor. What appears luxurious is, in reality, a form of violence. The animals are not celebrated; they are claimed. Through this contrast, the project questions how easily exploitation can be disguised as admiration, and how empathy is often erased in the pursuit of beauty and desire.

3 / PROCESS
The project began with a clear conceptual intention: to expose how exotic animals are transformed into objects of desire through human intervention and aestheticization.
I started by defining the visual language and narrative, selecting specific animals and working with isolated PNG elements to preserve their original posture, gaze and physical presence. From there, I developed the environments separately, using generative AI to construct atmospheric backgrounds that reinforced a sense of artificial reverence and staged beauty.
The final compositions were developed through a layered process, combining directed image generation and controlled refinement. Generative tools were used selectively to enhance surface, texture and ornamentation, while maintaining a strong human-led creative direction throughout.
Rather than relying on a single generative output, each image was built through intentional composition, iteration and curation, allowing the AI to serve the concept — not define it.
